Annual Fire Extinguisher Inspection

Portable fire extinguishers serve as a critical first line of defense against small fires and ensures immediate response when necessary. It is essential that these extinguishers are easily accessible and fully operational for prompt use. Given that not all fire extinguishers are the same, selecting the appropriate size and agent is vital to minimize potential damage. Properly maintained fire extinguishers, play a significant role in saving lives and preventing property damage.

In accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and State fire codes, fire extinguishers must undergo annual maintenance and monthly inspections. Our qualified technicians will ensure that you have the correct extinguisher for the specific hazards present, and that the quantity and placement of the extinguishers comply with the required regulations.

Additionally, an annual inspection of each fire extinguisher is mandated by NFPA or the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Depending on your jurisdiction and the type of unit, this inspection may need to be conducted by a licensed professional. Ensuring compliance with these standards is essential for maintaining safety.

Fire Extinguisher 6 Year Maintenance

Every six years from the date of manufacture, it is mandatory for a fire extinguisher to be disassembled, emptied, and subjected to comprehensive internal and external visual inspections to ensure its proper functionality.

The following steps outline the process for a six-year fire extinguisher maintenance test:

1. Complete disassembly and discharge of the fire extinguisher.
2. Thorough inspection of the interior components.
3. Disassembly and meticulous cleaning of the valve.
4. Examination of the exterior shell for any cracks, leaks, or irregularities.
5. Replacement of O-rings and gaskets as necessary.
6. Refill and charge the extinguisher with the appropriate extinguishing  agent.
7. Reconnect the valve, shell, and affix a service verification tag.

Fire Extinguisher Hydrotest

Portable fire extinguishers are subjected to periodic hydrostatic pressure testing to assess their structural strength and mitigate the risk of potential failures. These evaluations are performed by certified service technicians in a controlled environment, which helps reduce the likelihood of injury or damage. The hydrostatic testing procedure entails filling the container with water or another suitable non-compressible fluid. The pressure is then increased to a specified level as per manufacturer specifications or federal safety standards, followed by a comprehensive inspection for any possible failure points. This pressure must be sustained for at least 30 seconds. Upon completion of testing, the fire extinguisher shell is refilled and recharged with the appropriate agent.
